Type-C extension cable
A plug at one end and a matching socket at the other, so this extends an existing USB Type-C cable or moves a port somewhere more convenient.
- Every USB-C cable looks identical, and they are not. Speed, wattage and video support all vary, and none of it is visible from the outside. Check the listing states the figures you need.
- USB has a length limit: about 5 m for USB 2.0 and 3 m for 5 Gbps. Past that you need an active or powered extension.

How to recognise it
- Rounded oval about 8.4 mm wide, symmetrical top to bottom.
- Reversible: there is no wrong way up.
- A flat tongue with contacts on both faces sits inside the socket.

- Maximum power:
- Up to 240 W with USB PD 3.1 and an e-marked cable
